World Post 3
Pitch:
My organization is the Zhao Foundation for Women Winners. Our mission to create a new generation of female billionaires that will inspire young girls to dream bigger. Although there are more female billionaires now than ever, women still make up only 11 percent of the top 0.1 percent of earners. In 2016, of the 294 female billionaires in the world only 49 were self made.
I think there are many reasons for this inequality, but I refuse to believe that a lack of ability is one of them. I am passionate about this foundation because as a business woman I see this untapped potential as a financial opportunity. As a philanthropist, I am determined to help women break the diamond ceiling. According to economist Professor Zucman, at the current rate of growth it will take 100 years for women to make up half the 1 percent. I'm a pretty impatient person so I'd rather not wait that long.
The Zhao Foundation for Women Winners was established to find the next female Bill Gates, and give her the resources to achieve the impossible. Countless studies have shown that women are less likely to take financial risks, which limits their opportunities to create wealth. Our foundation aims to inspire girls to dream big and be fearless. We provide funding and resources to female entrepreneurs with billion-dollar ideas. My foundation is unique because it acts as an incubator, an angel investor, and a charity all at once. The program lasts for 10 years and the selected entrepreneurs will receive a guaranteed yearly living payment while they pursue their dreams. This will prevent them being burdened by fear of failure and financial risk. In return, I will receive equity in their companies and expect at least a 10x return, which is a typical figure in venture capital.
Of course, I don't expect my women to aim for 10x returns. I expect them to aim for 100x returns. I expect them to dream even bigger, harder, and scarier than me. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with shooting for the trees, but my organization seeks to find and cultivate the women that are shooting for the stars. Bring me the selfish, the arrogant, the ruthless. Bring me the bossy, the abrasive, the bitches. AMDP should support the Zhao Foundation because that means investing in women winners who will change the world.
